Art Is For Everyone, 2017
This artwork was made as a manifesto to my future art career. Informed by my tutors at City and Guilds of London Art School, i took inspiration from historical religious art composition and combined it with autobiographical expression and my feminist politics. It focusses on sexuality, body positivity, Grime music, Black Women musicians (Ray BLK, Noname, Nadia Rose and Solange), mental health and my mixed-race identity, part of which is Indian Indentureship in the british empire. This artwork took me 183 hours to hand embroider.
