Le Monde, 2017

Hand embroidery on calico, each approx 10cm x 10cm

I was commissioned by the French newspaper Le Monde to create 10 embroideries, one of their logo and nine to feature alongside their retrospective of the Me Too movement and other feminist actions in France and across the world. I had difficulty bringing myself to embroider two of the works in particular which referenced a Hollywood and a Presidential abuser. In my art I don’t avoid horrible topics but I don’t like spending a lot of time or energy on creating art which focusses on them. Im proud of the outcome of the series, them being published to recognise feminist movements and moments.
