Motif Circle Portrait, 2015

Hand embroidery on calico, 20cm x 20cm

With each iteration of these circular embroideries, I hoped to push myself and test my embroidery and composition skills. This was my first embroidered self portrait and was informed by my studies of portraiture especially through the feminist arts movements. The photographs in the polaroids are from photographs I took of myself for the Artist Portrait module in my degree. In this vein I also included tools of my trade such as thread, scissors, pencils, needles and handmade patches.
