Blue Self Portrait, 2015

Hand embroidery on calico, 11cm x 16.5cm

This is the second embroidered self portrait I made while studying Fine Art at Birmingham City University. The blue background is a very literal representation of the depression I was feeling. The detail I achieved in my face, jewellery and tattoos is something Im proud of having only done embroidery for less than 3 years at the time I made this.
